Last evening, as we were doing the ward round, the topic arose, "why some people behave the way they do?"
"It's your basic training." my consultant said. "You tend to internalize certain things, which will stay with you throughout your career. Things like correct procedures, ways of communication, sterility etc. We pick up other things as we go on but that depends on what we already have come to accept. "
I couldn't agree more. Because no matter what everybody says, I won't change my opinion/v…

Today, I was caught up in traffic, running short of time, when I noticed my petrol tank empty button blinking. Hah ha. I laughed at myself. I'm back. The real self. Welcome. I missed you.
That made me think again about the past few days. My best friend has taken one week's leave and the two of us chat every evening, for hours. So, my project report had to wait-still waiting; reading books had to wait; my consultant's job had to wait; packing up had to wait. I didn't do anything other than what…

Just read Felicitas' blog entry on procrastination. Ha ha ha. 2 months back, I would have regarded it as enemy and looked away but these days I'm being good. Come to think of it, I've been good for almost a month, and things finally seem to sort themselves out. So I was in a good mood when I saw this blog entry and naturally agreed to the points which I would have discarded one month back as 'impracticable'.
One month back, I had come down on an exam, and was so unhappy over it for the first ti…

නොදනිත්ද
කිසිවකු
නුඹ ගැන?
නො එසේව,
නොදත් බව හඟවත්ද?
කම් නැත.
මියුරුය මට නුඹේ හඬ;
අරුත්බරය වදන් සයුර;
සුන්දරය අකුරු වැල්-අහා!
මුතු මෙන් ලියැවෙන ඒ අකුරු වැල්....
හෙළය.
මගේ අභිමානය.

I was good today. YES YES YES!
Every now and then I become very good like this. :-)) I guess this is better and healthier than being good everyday-just imagine, what if I was good everyday? Eeeeek.
My best friend called early in the morning. I was unable to help her but her kids waving from behind her, wanting to talk to me was enough to warm my heart. And when I went to work, the 7 year old kid on bed 6 greeted me with a cheerful cry and hug and a kiss.
My shift partner was very nice and sha…

Marcel has changed everything to white and he says it's a necessary step in growth. Huh! It's not even a personality colour. I wonder how people like Gabriel survive in all this whiteness. Come to think of it, this suits most of the topics in the forum: god, religion and peace etc. But how many people are in the community and what a small percentage of people have such 'white' feelings? This is not democratic at all. Marcel is a communist dictator-Communist because everybody has got the same thi…

We went to see Galle Fort today and walked around enjoying the lovely scenery and the architecture of 17th century.
A doggie appointed himself as our tour guide and decided which route we should take, until we disappointed him by walking along the same street twice-we had noticed a coffee shop there-when he wanted to take us back to the gate. He left us then and there.

Decide.
Then,
See what I expect;
Hear what I expect;
Infer what I expect.
Then,
Spread what I inferred.

We can't control ourselves, but we believe, seriously and sincerely, that we can control others.
We segregate our children according to their sex, in school, in play, in games or any other event, and expect that they will grow up to be heterosexuals.
We choose people according to their leadership qualities and get all of them to work in a group.
We complain of an overpopulated world and express our concern about the limited resources and family planning nevertheless ask our single friends why…

There were 4 heavy vehicles driving at a speed of 5km/h in front of me and I overtook 3 of them and then was caught by the traffic policemen hiding in the corner to do exactly this. They thought my license (or what remains of it, since, the hot sun made it crunchy and break into 4 pieces and I managed to lose one piece.) will be safer in their hands.
For the rest of the journey I was preoccupied with the possible punishments the traffic policemen should get once they go to hell-that's where the…

It's kind of hard wired into me, and I never had any doubt. I tolerate the non believer for I respect their right to be that, but I always knew and felt comfortable because of that.
To think I have been born before-it explains many things.-Our tendencies since birth, before we had any chance to acquire or learn anything from this life; the extraordinary attachment one feels towards people one has never met. Now, I have that experience! I liked my best friend even before I met her, and the comme…

I began my new year in a very healthy manner-walking for four hours enjoying nature, and forgetting that the outside world exists.

Horton Plains-Nuwaraeliya. It is said that this beautiful place emerged from the sea a long time ago, although now it lies in the middle of the country,…

October, sweet October,
Starts my year since eight years back.
A relief, I remember,
From torment and torture,
Hard yet courageous times,
A new self,
Born, in October.
I met you,
At the dawn of another year,
A wonderful October,
I walked in your shadow,
Safe and warm,
Becoming one with you.
Memories, beautiful memories,
Of that last October
With you,
Still linger on.
The paths we walked,
Beneath the tired sun,
Amidst a lost world,
And the soft mist,
Merging the earth and heavens,
I so wish to…

I hear a message being delivered!
Early morning, I'm still in bed.
And I think, who could have remembered me at this hour?
Whoever!
It's nice to think someone remembered me,
Valued our relationship,
And cared enough to send a message.
My heart fills with joy.
So, I check it, to find,
A "loving" threat,
From the phone company:
"Dear valued customer,
You haven't paid your bill.
If you don't pay soon,
We are going to take away this priviledge from you!"
