My iPersonic Type
Groundbreaking Thinker
About me:
I guess we all feel that we are somewhat unique.I mean if you are a creative thinker wouldnt you want yourself to be interesting?
I live a pretty normal life but enjoy the edge just a little as if its icing on the cake of my life.Ive lived a while (check my DOB)
and enjoyed life and have often struggled too to understand it all.I dont struggle with it these days so much, allthough I do desire the perfect life but I know that is a little out of my reach.Still bliss has happened on occasion and that gives me hope.
I am better with people than alone,am quiet a little in the beginning but then want to take over..Though I like to be challenged in a positive way.
I was born in the Uk,in London and live in Toronto.Have travelled a lot, mostly to Asia and Europe and just love Hawaii.
But then again my most wonderful experience in my life started there.
life is a challenge but I am living it even if its not as perfect as I would like it.I love the idea of finding something that interests me.I have many friends but for the most part they are just good friends. Some are interesting but mostly that are just good people. I left school at 15 but have learned a lot in my life and studied a lot by myself on what I have found stimulating and always open for ideas that make sense.

Two months later, but I also usually read non-fiction but loved The Pillars of the Earth. I'm anxiously awaiting the release in paperback of the sequel. (I find hardcover books have a tendency to take over my house, lately I've been buying only trade paperbacks.)
In the non-fiction category, I really loved The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. Any suggestions for me? I'm on the lookout for something good all the time!

Yeap. Agree with you, Ron. They should make it much more chic and do the mix and match styling or blending designs. Well I guess that is the first time they try to bring the culture to the niche market, so they haven't been really expertise on the strategy and market research.

Talking about Jakarta, oh well, the traffic now is so torturing. It is almost like a daily emotional blackmail. Yes, some Asian countries have been busier than ever now, as some of them also growing and part of them couldn't really control all the stuff.

I don't really know about the fabric industries, but I really love fabric and glad to have such information from you. :)

Ronnie, sorry for the late reply. I was quite hectic with my new schedule :(. However, your reply were very interesting. I agree with what you said. We are anticipating of the chinese designers to go international, as they already have the capital, the big volume of demands, the production facilities etc in their country.

About the chinese line, I think it is Shanghai Tang? As far as I know, Shanghai Tang is one of the international brand for luxury fashion products from China. They use the traditional chinese items and designs, collaborated with modern style.

They actually have already adopt their own style as Chine have the Shanghai neckline, and their cheong sam style has already been known worldwide. But yes, the style has not as popular as the kimono. But I think soon it will be more popular along with the political and economical growth in China thatmade the country as one of most powerful country in the world.

Vilia the volume market itself is much more structured than its ever been but there is also a very vibrant niche market in every domestic market. It is difficult for many to survive but it still has a creative edge. From time to time these niche markets explode as did London in then 1960's and America in the 70's and Japan in the 80's.Maybe China is next in contrast to the volume business they have, maybe Chinese designers will come to the front. In London there was a Chinese line (I think its called Shanghai Rose or something like that but it looks (or it did) like traditional chinese items geared for the designer market but it was nothing exceptional. But young Chinese designers can be the next hot thing because of the money flowing into China and the growing middle class. They would have to adopt there own style as the Japanese did before.
In Japan and Korea Ive seen before anime style clothes. So who knows maybe tht will happen but with a chinese influence.

Jakarta was quite busy when I was there but all over Asia traffic has got worse. In Korea when I first went there were not so many cars and in a 10 year period from 1980 to 1990 zoomed.
I know there is many Japanese companies in Indonesia. In Japan somehow the traffic doesnt change that much. They seem to control it. I have spent a lot of time in Osaka
and it always seemed almost the same though a little busier.
There is a wonderful blend of art and design and also business in Fabrics. When I was importing I would go to Paris and Milan for ideas and then to Asia. I know that Indonesia was always doing fabric business and clothing business with Europe, especially Germany and so the print designs were always great.
Korea would export to the US so the looks were different. Now Chinahas exploded on the scene and that has changed it again. But always I liked more the domestic goods of each country in Asia and nthe asian styling for the domestic markets even though it wasnt such a big volume seller.
more later...

Hi Ronnie!
Wow, so you've been here before. I bet at that time, Jakarta was still a very nice and tidy town. Not like now, full of jam and pollution. LOL.
Yeah I read that you were in the Fabric business. It is a fun field. People think fashion is all about expression and art while actually some big part of it is forecasting, which also means....a well planned similarities. :)
I will need to learn much about fabric from you. :)
Have a very pleasant day, Ronnie!
