What stops a person from showing what they feel.

ok here is this mini problem that i have been having. ok. so i like this person for about a month and a couple weeks and this person likes me but the problem is that they don't want to take the next step. i've told em' how i felt and they sort of vagley told me. and they have givin' me reasons what is sort of holding them back from taking that next step. i'm usually a blunt and i say what is on my mind. but my best friend also likes them and they talk to each other more than i do. should i just wait it out see what happens. try harder and make progress or just drop the whole thing. sorry that this isn't about saving the world or anything political but i just want to know what complete strangers think. =)
