there are diffrent ways to know others, but in a situation that the only way of your communication is writing, sth like such we have in ipersonic, what is the best way to know your friends?suppose they are honest.Share your ideas with us.
It's always been easier to communicate with others in a place like this, because without knowing others you can simply share your ideas and get others' and stay anonymous if you wish which will give you more time to know your opposite person(s), this will take a few more steps forward towards knowing others quicker and better rather than communicating with them in person.
You cant just walk down the street and start a conversation with someone that is passing you by, whereas in places like this you can share whatever you want with whoever you want and whenever you want and get feedback and there is alwasys someone to respond.

It's not much different than real life for me.
I'm mute, and sign language isn't widely used, so I carry a notebook everywhere.
This feels somewhat the same as real life to me.
I prefer faces though.
I've gotten better at reading them.
I also listen to more than most people it seems.
To know people?
I just ask a lot of questions.
I'm overly curious, so I ask everything.
=]
I think the best way to do this is to watch what they type on different subjects. Over time you should see a general pattern to their ideas. Be it here or in the "real world" I have found the best way to learn about people is to just watch them. lol Not meaning stare mind you but just watch how they act/react to different things. Over time there will always be a pattern.
I wouldn't really try to know others in a situation like this website.
It takes me literally years to feel I know someone. I need face to face interaction with them or at the very least to hear their voice on the phone.
The two people I met online that I interact with regularly ...one lives across the continent and we talk on the phone...after five years I feel pretty close to him.
The other I live 11 miles from...we see each other several times a week...but I will need more time before I feel I know him. We still do MOST of our communicating by email.
Hi Sara.well i think that these are two different aspects of people ,as writing your thoughts from behind the screen is a way to hide and feeling free to lie or to not, whilst talking in person there is the underlying fear or over confidence that one has to watch. So I use ipersonic to discuss and take what is valuable to me whilst in person i see how they act to what they say.
