Hi People first time here ever. I feel like music depends on your mood at the time like if im angry or down i put on jimmy barnes and if im happy and funny i listen to bonjovi or anything else. Anyone else like that or am i strange haha?

I think that every type of music kind of codifies for a mood - so that´s why it´s so good listening at it - it can fight or exalt one´s mood. The Romantic stated in far 1800 that music is the highest art - the art in which the Spirit - Will as someone put it - expressed itself. In a way they were right except for the ideologies and ideas beyond such a worldview-

My english teacher used to put it this way: ´Music is the supreme art as it appeals to all the senses´. at first I believed he was just trying to produce some statement-cunning observation- but a little out of the focus. Yet, thinking it over that´s also right : music appeals to the earing but can remind us of colours ( because of emotions that are with them related) feelings (objects produce particular sounds when touched for instance) ...

among all sorts of artistic codes music is the one that´s the most far from matter - (sounds : waves) - its message can be understood instinctively by the brain - as if it referred to some old- everlasting code deep inside - every sound has a meaning isn´t it? music orchestrate this meaning!

if anybody thinks I´m freaking out just tell!!

Often, I can even force myself into a certain mood by using music - yesterday, e. g., I was in a very bad mood, so I put on some really cheerful music and listened to it. And my mood changed; I felt better after a while and all my anger and sadness was gone! ;-)

Here's my illustration for music as a "downer". My 16 rear old daughter was listening to a certain artist (M. M.) and she was depressed and even underweight....Then her taste in friends changed, which led to different sounds and lyrics. Now she looks and acts somewhat healthier. Every one of us can't survive on crap very well, can we? But many do, and it shows.

I even find that latino music my boyfriend and his friend like; wow, I still don't get the lyrics but, it's not the lyrics for me....

I have a lot of different genres of music I listen to from classical to r&b to pop to even some country. I love native american music, powwows -- I love the music we have, it's so soothing to lay down and listen to the drums beat. It all depends on what mood I'm in -- that seems to dictate what kind of music I listen to that day... is that weird of me or what? I don't think so!
