Hi Jason, that's cool.. what about if we print our fave lyrics that have meant something to us ok..
I love Sarah McLachlan's In the Arms of the Angel:
Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it ok
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction, oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless, and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of an Angel, fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here
So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference, escaping one last time
It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees
In the arms of an Angel, far away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
In the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here..
Got to say, this song has helped me get through some tough times in my life..it's one of my all time faves.. :)
That's a hard song NOT to like. That song actually got me to listen to more of her stuff and while it's not normally "my thing," I have a great deal of respect for her vocal and songwriting talents.
A song that's always meant a lot to me is Jesse by Mother Earth off their album The People Tree.
(M)Jesse's all alone and crying
Jesse what have you done wrong?
You can't sit here feeling sorry for yourself
Get a life and make sure you be strong
(F)Nobody really loves me
Nobody really cares
Won't somebody please help me?
I just want someone to be there
(Chorus)Jesse close your mind to hurtful cries and people's lies
Jesse I understand, take my hand, feel alright
(M)Hey Jesse, I think that I can help you
Cause I used to feel like you do
I know someone who can solve all your pain
He was there for me and for you he will too
(F)She said
No you don't understand me
Nobody ever does
I'm too frustrated with my life
I wanna just get off and end it with no fuss
(Chorus)Jesse close your mind to hurtful cries and people's lies
Jesse I understand, take my hand, feel alright
Jesse feel your life, see the light, touch the mind
Jesse I understand, take my hand, feel alright
(M)Don't you feel that way
Hear the words I say
Face the world today
Hold your hands to pray
This song is sung by a male to a female. I can empathize strongly with this song from both perspectives as I frequently feel like the female (i.e. alone, like no one cares or will ever understand how i feel), yet play the role of the male for everyone around me (i.e. be supportive, be positive, offer insight and encouragement). I've "sung" this song to just about all my friends from the male perspective...haha.
To me it represents my seemingly uncanny knack for being intuitive and insightful enough to help everyone else around me, yet not being able to "help" myself combined with no one else I try to talk to about how I feel ever "getting it."
There are so many talented musicians and so much awesome music, it's tough for me to pick a favorite. But for sentimental reasons, I have to go with "Collide" by Howie Day. This song was played to a photo slide show at my friends funeral a couple years ago. Her name was Amy. She was 27 years old and took her own life. She was engaged to be married, had a job, an apartment, seemingly so much to live for. Her fiancee Alisha picked this song.
ive always love Mono's Life in Mono becoz of the mysterious element in the song. Its dark, spacey and definitely haunting, which is my fav factor to listen to any music. lets see what else?? hmm... most songs from Muse, the Kills, Lady Gaga (she is currently making headlines in the music scene after the performance on Miss World pageant), Head Automatica, 90s bands such Smashing Pumpkins, Cranberries etc, u know the drill yeah =)...
Music is such a huge part of my life. Most of the time I have a hard time saying exactly what I mean...so I use music as a medium. For me some of my top songs (and that's hard to say) would have to be: Mercury Rev- Vermillion, Opus 40, Spiders and Flies and Goddess on a Hiway. From The Flaming Lips- It Overtakes Me, Do you Realize?, The Sound of Failure, and Race for the Prize. From Radiohead- High and Dry, Lucky, Pyramid Song, Reckoner, Exit Music (for a film), Climbing Up the Walls, Everything In It's Right Place, Living In A Glass House, this list is huge...so I'll end with that. Radiohead is a band for me that I can't pick my favorite song because I love them all! Other musicians I tend to get into phases with would be Ani DiFranco, Air, Beck, Nine Inch Nails, and lots of different jazz and blues musicians. :-)
I love that song, too. It's so beautiful. It kind of reminds me of this song that I love. I think you'll like it too, if you like Hallelujah. It's called 9 crimes by Damien Rice. Check it out.
it's not that poular as the other ones, but i really like "posession" by sarah mclachlan.
i also like soundtracks like a kaleidoscope of mathematics from a beautiful mind.
streets of philadelphia from bruce spingsteen.
