well ;Hi Sabine;I like idioms very much ,because they add colour to the language, giving us lively and interesting ways of expressing ourselves .We use them in a wide variety of situations ,from friendly conversations and business meetings to more formal written contexts.
Here are some of what I highly appreciate:
"a heavy cross to bear" this means ;a serious problem that troubles someone for a long time.
"a blind date" means a romantic meeting between two people who have not met each other before.
" not let the grass grow under your feet" means to waste no time.
"pop the question" means to ask someone to marry you.
"a slip of the tongue" means say sthg by mistake.
"a snake in the grass" means someone who pretends to be your friend but does sthg to harm you.
"bare your soul" means to tell someone your most private feelings.
............. and so many others that I like and prefer to use especially when I am angry and I don't want the others understand what I am saying.
Hello.
I change my sayings to adopt them to my life. Today I can say three of them because today I like them more than the others. 1) Skies are unlimited; 2) All will pass; 3) No reason -- no human. And I have remembered another one: 4) Any road runs to one direction -- there is no road to back.
Be health and take care ))
