People disagree every day over many issues. People start wars, which ends in blood shed. People inflict violence on others every single day. Do you believe that they deserve to die as well when they kill? There are many different views on this subject. I would like to know all of them. I personally believe that the human mind is a very intricate organism and it should be further examined to better understand why we do the things we do. I do not believe that "an eye for an eye" is the answer. It is too simple minded-you can convince me otherwise. I believe that it is much more complicated. We should attempt to better understand the enemy instead of just killing them off. Perhaps, it is the right thing to do. Thank you for your reply!
No, I also don't think "an eye for an eye" is always the right thing to do. Of course, it matches the human's sense of justice, but isn't an equal punishment as bad as the crime which was done before? You're right, it's simple. That's why it's supposed to be right by many people. And there are humans who did so cruel things to others which actually shows that they don't deserve to live in a civilised society. That's a fact. But: What if we still would use judgements like the death penalty? (I say this as a German, many countries in the world still use it) Can we be sure to always decide correct? What if the "murderer" was in fact victim of a conspiracy? They would have killed an absolutely guiltless man. The other thing is that humans should not be able to decide on life or death of others. Life is a property which is not high enough valued in these times, I think.
Oh, and before I forget it: In my opinion a criminal should stay in jail an appropriate time (murderer - lifetime) and, under any circumstances, shouldn't be realeased earlier. There should also be only minimal supply to stay alive. They shouldn't be killed but they don't deserve a nice life anymore.

"If we live by the principle "An eye for an eye" all we would be blind very soon" - I don't remember who said this but I'm totally agreed. And I'm agreed with you, just to kill someone is nothing, to understand him is everything. There is another quotation, by Daniil Strogov (writer): "To understand is to forgive." Well, when you are involved in badness as a victim... it's much much more harder to think in this way... but it is still the right way, in my opinion. I just don't wish for myself or for nobody else to fall into this kind of a situation...
And yes, I think there is a justice in life... there is an answer to every act and even to every thought; but in most of cases it is not the one we expect and understand at 100%.
I'm not a fan of the death penalty, but I wholeheartedly believe in justice. I propose that all murders be sentenced not to death, but to the rest of their lives being subjects of medical and psychological studies that are deemed unethical to conduct on humans. That is truly paying one's debt to society and may even prove to be a better deterrent than death. I think society would approve of the complete mindf---k that person may undergo.
If someone killed one of my friends or someone from my family, I'd kill them. I know that there's no way I could be objective in that case. So, when someone's son or daughter got killed by some idiot, who was driving while being drunk I would understand if they killed him, and I wouldn't judge them. It's easy to be objective about matters like this when you're not DIRECTLY involved, and even now you can only "assume" that you'd react in a certain way... You never really know how you'd react until you're in that situation. And really, who are we to judge and say how it should be.. What is "justice" its just like saying something's "normal" Everyone's deffintion of that is different...
