Wow! This is fantastic! I wanted to write about this topic during the next weeks. Thanks for your proposal to help!

Spanish would indeed be my first choice - maybe, because I'm 50% spanish ... ;-) Besides that, it would be great to have a lot of spanish and latin american iPersonics ...

I think we would start to translate the test and the results. The community interface can be made available in spanish, too. I am not sure though, if we can easily switch between both interface languages.

Yova: first step would be to create the 16 personality types. The point is that any type should correspond with a singular 2 letter abbreviation. Here are my initial suggestions (Following the order at our personality bar, starting with AT ;-):

el Pensador Analítico (PA)
el Idealista Soñador (IS)

What do you think? My has been much better - some 20 years ago ... So feel free to correct me.

I am not sure about Doer -> Creador. Es más bien algo como "hombre de acción", no?

Should we continue the process here in the forum - or should I open up a group?

Hi!

I want this in Portuguese too! I'm from Brazil and have a lot of friends of mine that would enter this site when it becomes translated.

I can help in it if you want too. I think the most difficult will be translate the content of your site. Ning interfaces has a solution now to have the language chosen by the member:

Adding Language Option for members

There is also a way to do an automatically translations by using google translate. Here we have an example:

http://formularacing.ning.com/

Of course google translator is not perfect, but they have a suggesting feature that let any member or visitor of the site to suggest a better translation to the site. Just put the mouse over a setence that is not good and you will see a link to suggest a better translation.

Think about it :)

Hi Ronaldo,

wow, thanks for your proposal! I am really moved by the interest of bringing iPersonic into other languages. It requires quite some work, though.

I've been reading your article about "Adding Language Option for members" a few days ago - this is really great! I really think that we should implement it as soon as we have languages other than english.

I am not a great fan of Google translator, though. I think that the "main language" for iPersonic and its community should still be english - this ensures that most people will be able to communicate with each other. But we should have translated tests and community interfaces for some other languages. And portuguese is definitely a priority.

Unfortunately, I am myself only used to western languages, so my priorities would be:

* spanish
* portuguese
* french
* german (done)

Yes, we do have a german version, since we started with it some time ago.

Well, I guess I'll have to find a way how this translation process could be structured. Maybe we should start with spanish, since I am familiar with this language.

Once again, thanks for your help!

I think you should open a group (translation group or spanish translation group) and since you're 50% spanish...quizás deberiamos hablar directamente en castellano, si te parece.

Just wanted yo all to show the results of our first translation into spanish. The picture below shows the visitors to iPersonic on May 26, 2008 (yesterday) by cities. You'll see that the spanish version has led to many visitors from Latin America - and from Spain, too. The city with most visitors is Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. But you will also notice, that there are still many white spaces on this map. Still a lot of work to do to bring iPersonic to everyone ... ;-)

Well, if you could manage a russian version, many people from all of the CIS would join the community. Huh... sounds almost like a battle strategy. :-D I have russian as second language, but I know almost nothing. So I can't help you with this, sorry. Hmm... maybe the name of the Community: "иПэрсоник" ;-)

Reply to This

;-) иПэрсоник is a good start, at least it looks very cool ;-)

The point is, that with almost any additional language (with he exception of french) we would also need somebody who handles the community etc. Because I really cannot handle and moderate contents from any other languages besides, German, Spanish, English and French ...

Technically this ain't no problem. Everything is set up that a partner could handle a localized version of the community by himself. WIthout interfering with the other language communities.

It's just a matter of time and luck to find the guys who would be interested in doing so ... ;-)

That's the problem. But as you can see, it's hard to find someone for this job if you can't speak to him... okay okay, if he/she speaks German, Spanish, English or French it wouldn't be a problem. By the way: is iPersonic a private project? Or would the person get money for this?

Reply to This

iPersonic is a private project. I am not sure if we should change this ;-) But we could of course co-operate with local partners and let them run the local community.

well I think spanish for example was a mandatory translation being the second most widely spoken language in the world, and most spanish speakers are quite reluctant to use english (not because I made it, though :P)

There are other mandatory translations as well (anyone into chinese? :P), but trying to locate iPersonic to every spoken language would make the community to lost a lot of its potential: to reunite people with different personalities all around the world and share it's own approach to all kinds of things about life.
