Some one near me; not necessarily living with me so that I'll have some personal space but some one who lives close by.
When you trust someone, have lived with them for a long time and lead a busy life perhaps you can maintain a good relationship with miles separating you two.
But for me, a relationship should provide companionship more than anything else. I should be able to go for walks/entertainment/trips/social gatherings with my SO rather than having to do all those on my own/with others and then having to tell him or worse still, type, what my day had been like. Laughter and tears are best shared live rather than over a screen. How can you hold a hand and pat someone unhappy or ill, if you see them on a screen? A letter, a web cam or a phone cannot replace human to human contact throughout the day
For me it's the same, Nalini. I need "live" companionship and I really enjoy the fact that Marcel and I are not only married but also work together and therefore can spend much more time together than a "normal" couple. I'd surely be able to maintain a good long-distance relationship as well after some time of being together, but I'd probably never really like it.
For those of you who disagree and prefer long-distance love (or are forced to accept it right now), I found three funny tools to shorten the distance between you two and to enjoy a bit more of companionship regardless of all the miles separating you:
Here you'll find everything for your long-distance dinner for two: Two glasses and two plates connected by (technical) magic! Whenever the one person drinks a sip or eats a bite, a flashing mark on the glass or plate of the other one will show the change in the fluid level or food amount on his plate. So you feel as if you eat together (at least that's what the inventors claim!). And if your lover's lips touch the glass' edge and your lips do so at the same time, you may even feel his kiss!
Didn't really feel it? So maybe this here can help: Please welcome the "Hug Shirt"! It allows you to send your lover a hug via mobile phone. You both have to wear a hug shirt and embrace yourself. The sensors in the t-shirt record your touch and pass the data on via SMS to your lover's shirt which air cushions will blow up and reproduce exactly your embrace ...
