I was wondering if there is anyone else on here that takes an avid interest in languages. I've been interested in languages since about my 6th grade year of school. Ive studied many languages (at least 30 possibly up in the 45 to 50 range, though unfortunately I don't have the concentration ability to stick with a single one to learn it fluently) and have also created a few constructed languages.

I'm interested in meeting people with similar interests.

yea, next time i go to the neurologist i need to tell them that the medicine im on makes me feel really kinda... mentally disoriented. it kinda scrambles my thinking.

yea, i am 17.

im good with keeping stuff together and organized with school work, my problem is more of remembering how i organized it and what i have to do.

it does help concentration, especially marching band and having to do at least 10 things at once
sports? not so much, ive never really been the athletic type, the most i do is marching band.

i dont get a chance to practice often, not many people I know like learning languages =/

and for my reason, i like learning languages because it's interesting to see all the different ways people can express ideas, all the different sounds, and how they cna be grouped. its interesting to see how and on what things all the different languages have been seperated.^^

i can comprehend french pretty decently, though im horrible at responding in it ><</body>

Thank God! A forum dedicated to languages only! Languages are something different to me. For example, I hate when people take a language just because the language is fashionable and just take a few classes, give themselves airs like "oh, I'm learning this language...", and a few classes later drop it -hate it! In my opinion every language deserves respect and should not be taken so light. Actually I have a particular point of view about languages, to me it's like this: a language might represent a state of mood, a place, a time or a situation, so learning a language would be like knowing yourself a little better and being able to communicate things better because you match lines as you learn a new language. I never say I speak a language until I'm fluent in it, so in that case I only speak two. I take up Italian at school because they require it. And I learn Russian because I like it. Also, I relate languages with personality, so I think that the languages you speak or like, say a lot about you. I'm for learning languages by myself and everything is useful. Courses, teachers... that's not for me. I don't have a pattern to learn it and it's so comfortable because I learn it at my own pace. I also think I have facility to learn a language because I can deduce (most of the times) how a language works by looking at it written. The way a language is written determines a lot to me. And according to that I might find it easy or hard, pleasant or unpleasant.

Ive started working on a new conlang project, with which Im going through it slowly (I want it to be professional-ish). I'm planning on deriving it from slavic and turkic languages (i love turkish, just dont have the resources to learn it hardcore).

I'm especially interested in infrequent languages, which, of course, isn't very useful for me, because these languages are rarely spoken. and my problem is, that i don't have any opportunities to learn them, because nobody could teach me and often there are no books for selfstudy. I really want to learn Faroese=)
But how do I learn Sioux, Euchee( Yuchi) which is in danger of extinction, and others??:(

Yeah, languages are great... I'm interested in Italian, French and German. I'm sort of bilingual for my peculiar raising.
I thought of learning Scots Gaelic and Gaelic once but I've got no time for that... hehe

Cheers!

My advice to those who want to learn a lge is to study the formal forms and not the slang one because they are usually not used appropriately,of course it's not easy to learn a lge especially when it is not our mother tong but I'm sure we do when we like the lge , sometimes it's a matter of learning a lge either as a second lge or a foreign lge,I have highlly aprecited people who speak many lges because it adds sthg very specific to their profile ,lerning a lge means knowing things about its native speakers ;their moods ,their life ,their foods, their way of living...etc;so all thes to say that I am 100% for learning many lges ,personnally I speak 3;Arabic because it's my mother tong,Frensh my second lge and I am eager to perform my English.

ALL my best wishes to all people of this interest.
