I've come across an interesting book from Brent Massey called "Where in the World do I belong?". The author claims the following:
We are all different and no country fits everyone living in it. Many people who travel or live abroad are surprised to discover countries that fit them better than their own country. Discover if your personality type differs from your culture's type. Determine your personality type and learn about it through descriptions of culture types. Find out which culture fits your type when traveling, studying, working or living abroad.
I strongly believe that such an approach will lead to the usual clichés. Anyway, the idea is kind of interesting. Do you feel at home in your culture? Or does it make you feel like a stranger sometimes? All this emphasizes the idea of iPersonic: this is about personalities, not about countries or cultures.

Unfortunately I cannot tell which country would fit my personality type - there is no culture for Analytical Thinkers. Neither there is one for Harmony-seeking Idealists. Sorry folks! ;-)

I translated the personality types used by Massey into iPersonic types and merged the cultural types into the list below. Do you agree with the cultural type of your country? I am German and I agree with Germans being Reliable Realists. And for all of you that are not ATs or HIs - how is your personality type correlating with your countries cultural type? Or is this total nonsense?

For Switzerland, i think, it depends on in which region you live in (eg. German, France, Romandie, or Italia region). RR is for the German part, but not exactly fit with the others. As Indonesian with GR and ID's personality, I understand now why I'm different with the most Indonesians and why I feel home here in Switzerland. ;)

Sometimes it is hard to change the society here.

I love Canada because it is multicultural in the sense that the cultures are pulled together by this country and yet each culture retains its uniqueness within Canada.
The democratic system offers a standard of law etc which allows the different cultures to have one common sense of mutual respect and civil and human rights and yet each can retain the uniqueness of the culture. Its really a mosaic as opposed to a melting pot.

I understand what you are meaning. I have been working for a canadian company some years ago. I was really fascinated by the openness and tolerance in Canada. When I started this project here I thought: if iPersonic was a country, it would be Canada ... ;-)

Maybe I should build a colorful world map based on the data?

Interesting - and confusing. What was the original purpose of this map? Seems to be more of an anthropological approach.

I was born in the UK and still love it,well there are things I love about it and things I dont. I do like that its distinctively British but I love Paris because its distinctively French. In England some people believe the waves are still ruled by the English and that is only true until England kicks off and finds itself embarassed by a country that is playing football for the first time in its history. As to the French,I love the place but can stand the almost throw back to the forties where the special gendarmes wait for all the Mali boys to get to Chatelet station so they can arrest them for not having any travel tickets and jumping over the turnstiles. The turnstiles happen to be 2 ft high and the Mali boys just almost walk over.Bad system and the immigrants pay.
Canada is great multiculturally but rarely gets into the real depths of anything. Its just nice pleasant politically safe and clean, good to live but terrible to write about!
I mean we have the big bad capitalist bear below us and all we can muster up 3 or 4 rebellious insurgents to go over there to buy tee shirts that say 'George W Bush is a Moron'. But on the other hand its safe nice clean friendly and amicable. The biggest news is our foreign minister was dating an absolute beaut but they found that she had relationships with Biker bosses before and the minister had left some NATO documents in her boudoir.I guess its one way to get your rockets off!

Wow. That is very interesting. I'm a Filipino and am an AT but I definitely agree that 'Laid-back Doers' fit the my country's cultural type perfectly.

If you read about the Philippines, you'll find out that its culture can be described as very extroverted. In general, Filipinos are very friendly people. Our culture is famous for its hospitality. Also, Filipinos are very enthusiastic and happy. They say that Filipinos can withstand any crisis and will always survive with a smile. :)

Interesting idea.
I kind of have to laugh....I have fond memories of my husband who would be micromanaging some task or organization project , and say to me "Honey I'm sorry. I'm German."
I am Mexican ( more like half) and so many people are surprised to find Mexican people can be quite reserved...we aren't going around having fiestas and siestas all the time....

Aww, as a HI I don't fit in anywhere. Still, I'm from the UK and I'd say I definitely don't fit in with the majority of DRs here. Usually I do fine until I start talking about anything that I feel strongly about. After that people tend to look at me strangely.
